About Sussex
Sussex is ideal for those who like access to rural life and
the sea but also want to be close to the Capital.
The scenery is varied and beautiful. Traditional small pastures
dominate parts of the county, bordered by centuries-old hedgerows,
areas of ancient woodland and the famous Sussex Oaks.
The South Downs provide splendid walks and views and divide the
coastal plain from the lovely countryside of inland Sussex, with its
historic villages and market towns and areas like the Weald and
Ashdown Forest.
The Sussex coastline is wonderfully varied, ranging from the
elegant buildings and pebbled beach at Worthing to the natural sand
dunes of Littlehampton, including harbours, marinas and piers.
The City of Brighton and Hove is famous for its vibrancy,
nightlife, shopping and numerous attractions, as well as historic
royal connections. Visitors from around the world are enchanted by
this bustling and friendly city.
West Sussex has long been popular with commuters - particularly the
areas around Horsham and Crawley, which are 45 minutes or less from
London by train. Gatwick Airport in the north of the county gives
easy access to worldwide travel and companies in the area provide
employment for thousands of people.
There are many excellent schools in the county, both local authority
and private, making it a great place for families. For those who
love to shop, the bigger stores and indoor malls can be found in
Brighton, Crawley, Horsham and Worthing and individual and unusual
shops abound in places like Chichester, East Grinstead and Steyning.
We believe that Sussex is one of the best places to live in
England - a mild climate, plenty to do and see, easy access to
London and above all the beauty and peace of the area.
